Coral Gables is a historic and
cultural hotspot in the Greater Miami area. The Mediterranean
style buildings, adorned plazas, Venetian pool, and sculptured
fountains add to the distinctive charm of Coral Gables . Created
in the 1920s by George Merrick, the City offers 22 parks,
33 public tennis courts, two public golf courses, and other
recreation amenities such as the largest tropical botanical
garden in the continental United States . The area has a spring-fed
grotto swimming pool made of native coral rock with underwater
caves, bike paths, walking trails, and more.
Miracle Mile, Coral Gables ' downtown,
is well known for its new restaurants and fine dining, art
galleries, and the Actors Playhouse.
